"STarlight vidz for kidz"
Make A Film Foundation had the pleasure of partnering with Starlight Children's Foundation in NYC for the very first Make A Film Foundation East Coast Vidz 4 Kidz project. 20 Kids were teamed with 20 Film Mentors and 20 hand-held video cameras to make 20 mini-movies about their lives and their medical challenges. The children's medical challenges included, Cancer, Lupus, Cerebral Palsy, Asthma, Arthritis and Heart Disease.
Academy Award nominated Director, Bennett Miller (Moneyball) facilitated a film clinic in which he spoke about his love of filmmaking, what he would create if he were to do a film about his life, and shared funny stories about directing Brad Pitt.
After the clinic, Bennett then Mentored/Directed participant Tyrese who has Cerebral Palsy and Asthma in the making of his film, "The Question" about what it is like to live day-to-day with Cerebral Palsy.
We also had an amazing producer, G. Mac Brown (Men In Black 3), join us to mentor 8 year old Elijah who has Leukemia.
It was an extraordinary day with teams shooting in NYC mostly in and around Times Square. All 20 films will be screening in NYC in September. Videos coming to webpage soon after screening.
